Being the first person up, coming home from training. A father with a kid who goes to school in the morning, I am responsible for preparing his breakfast and school snack. Being an early riser allows me to do a lot of stuff especially preparing hot breakfast for myself and my wingman, sometimes for the family. They like my cheese pancakes, salted egg fried rice, omelettes and most especially my crusty-thinly pressed grilled cheese sandwich (it’s all in the butter). Having said that, I am not claiming that I am the best dad, 99% of the recognition belongs to my ever supportive wife and in-laws when it comes to rearing my kids.

Back to the subject of meal preparation, I do not restrict my family to ‘keeping it clean’ when it comes to food choices, respecting their right to choose and enjoy the good stuff, but if they choose to go along for the ride with me, I welcome them with open arms. So all of a sudden I am the bad dad now for basically giving my family $#!T food? I disagree, because most of the time I spike their food up with healthy food sources like oats and fresh fruits on pancakes, pureed greens and herbs inside those grilled cheese sandwiches, and like today, he is eating the same sludge (oats) with me with some melted dark chocolate, milk and of course a spoonful of sugar just like in the song. I carb load him for his snack though and let his teachers handle him just for the heck of it.lol

To sum it up, the food we take transcends to everything we do for the rest of the day. It reflects on how we function and on how we tackle and conquer our goals. Not knowing is like going to war unprepared. The idea of choosing, knowing and preparing your own food is an edge you can choose to have. All it takes are few minutes of your time but I assure you, it is worth it, my kid loves me a little bit more today.
