A year ago, I turned my back away from a very good career in the United States. I continue to miss and love that country so much. It opened its doors and accepted me with open arms. 'Appreciated, valued and compensated the things that I can do. It took me off from poverty that allowed me to have better options and convenience in life along with my loved ones.
As much as I miss that place that I considered home, I chose to go back to the Philippines to have this afternoon walk with my kid. Why? Simply because it is food to my soul, a non-medical treatment to my darkness, my sense of content and a promise of hope. As I watch him walk in front of me, all I see is a better version of myself, enough reason to fill me up with happiness no money or any form of convenience can buy.
