Isolated Cable Triceps Extension: Done the same way as other triceps extension exercises (kick backs, rope pulldown, etc), the idea is to get the arm into full extension and hold/squeeze the contraction tight at the end of the range before the slow eccentric contraction back to starting position. Many a times, the common mistake in doing this exercise is the yanking of the cable/rope back and forth relying on momentum to move the weight stack, not even conscious of the range of motion and the tension the triceps needed to be stimulated. I am not saying that fast tempos and short ranges are not effective either, but that certain ‘feel’ of tearing/ripping of the muscle/s should exist when doing this exercise, or any other hypertrophy driven lifts.
