Barbell row variation – posterior deltoid(back of the shoulder) isolation exercise. One of the muscles I neglected when I started working out were the posterior chain muscles. In this exercise, I positioned myself bent over the bench staring at the back of the palm of my supporting arm with feet at 45 degrees from the bar path to position the shoulder in at least 135-145 degrees abduction/away, isolating the deltoid instead of the latissimus dorsi/back. I kept my scapula retracted(that made it appear that my back is rounded from the video angle but it was not I promise)to avoid compensation from the trapezius since its insertion is the posterior deltoid’s origin. I felt the tension more when I did not bring my arm all the way down so as not to activate the latissimus dorsi. I did 5×10 for this exercise with light to moderate load going for the feel of each pull and not relying strictly on the tempo.
