“I show my scars so that others know they can heal.” -R. Nicol’
Here are side by side videos of this morning’s posing practice(raw and filtered). As much as I appreciate how user friendly and how the presets on these editing apps adds up to the drama and marketing aspects of the videos/photos, I can’t help but also feel guilty knowing that I might be sending wrong messages to the people especially my clients that falsifying reality is the standard for looking/feeling good rather than truly appreciating what they worked hard for. Second, the saying ‘the body composition you perform your best at may not be your favorite to look at” is true. I see having a low body fat percentage body composition as a gift and a curse. If I choose to keep looking like this all year round, that also means skipping good dinners with family and friends, low energy level to attend to my children, low libido, mental instability/depression, etc. Don’t get me wrong, there are outliers out there and I respect how they manage to do it but not for me. It doesn’t mean I’m weak because maybe I’m not disciplined enough. Factors such as genetics, age, general health are all considerations too. As far as I know, few reasons I chose not to keep this physique all year round are as follows: I was born to a mother who taught me how to cook and appreciate food. Second, I love sharing cheat meals and sweet treats with my kids, and lastly, I just want to appreciate life as it is. I give myself and recommend my clients to have goal seasons instead of walking a tight rope(diet/training) all year round, may it be a vacation on the beach, a photo shoot, a sports competition even modeling/body building shows. Productive reasons to look forward to several times a year to keep the fire burning.
