Lying Leg Curl: There are several variations to doing this exercise (feet-ankle position, tempo and resistance). All of which are beneficial, challenging and takes the boredom off of doing an exercise for the always taken for granted group of muscles in the posterior chain. The video is an example of a basic routine (2/0/2 tempo, neutral feet and ankles, moderate resistance). The idea is to prevent the hips from raising as you curl, this will keep the tension on the hamstrings by preventing synergistic dominance to occur. What I find effective in trying to pin my hips to the bench is to raise my upper torso off it supported by my forearms. I also try as much as possible to isometrically contract my lower back and glutes all through out the process.
